Paving in Yarm

The big-frontage patch
Yarm's detached housing gives Teesside some of its largest domestic paving. Frontages of 70 to 120 square metres are common towards Worsall Road, Leven Bank and the Green Lane side, and at that size the square metre rate usually softens a little while the total obviously does not: £4,200 to £7,000 for a 70 square metre block drive is a fair expectation. Turning circles, in-and-out drives and a threshold in a contrasting material are all standard requests here, and every curve adds cutting labour.
The High Street and the conservation area
The Georgian core is a different job. Materials should sit with the age of the buildings, which means clay pavers, granite setts or riven stone rather than modern concrete, and conservation area controls can apply to what is visible from the street. Areas are small and access is often awkward between shops and cobbled frontages, so the labour proportion is higher than the material cost suggests. It is worth checking with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council before ordering anything.
Newer estates, newer surfaces
The modern developments around the town produce the contemporary list: large-format porcelain patios at the upper end of £50 to £80 per square metre and beyond, garden paths, and permeable front drives at £80 to £120 that keep new hardstanding inside permitted development.
